Meals On Wheels

In 1958, Pauline Allen introduced the idea of home delivered meals to needy residents of Kalamazoo County, an idea that grew into the Meals On Wheels program that Senior Services, Inc. and others throughout the world have continued. By 1960, Senior Services began the Friendly Visitor Program to feed homebound and isolated elderly residents. Today, Meals On Wheels continues to be a critical program of Senior Services that provides sound and healthy nourishment to needy older adults. This service is available seven days a week, 365 days a year and compared to such areas as New York City and Detroit where there are waiting lists to receive meals, Senior Services offers next day service.
