Our region's economic performance is determined by the health and competitiveness of our portfolio of industry clusters - the building blocks of economic activity. Understanding our economic performance must begin with analysis of the state of our industry clusters. To achieve this, we have identified the set of industry clusters that drive our economy and examined changes in this portfolio over the last two decades. We have also analyzed how our industry clusters are performing against competing regions, in order to better understand the health and competitiveness of our local industries. This chapter serves as a basis for identifying the strengths and weaknesses of our economy.
