GLFN's unique role in the community
To date, only 64 communities in the United States have developed
and benefit from an active and ongoing Free-Net. The Free-Net
in Battle Creek:
- Provides free and global electronic mail to all Calhoun County
residents.
- Provides public training and user assistance.
- Offers a community bulletin board where area residents can access
information from and about local organizations, programs and
activities.
- Presents unique, interactive capabilities to assist schools and
parents in the education of students of all ages.
- Assists in providing open forums for communication between a wide
range of community organizations.
- Has an established base of over 5,000 regular users as an audience
for local business and community interests.
As such, the Free-Net not only provides services unique to this
organization, but it does so at no cost to the individual or the
organization.
